How to evaluate a worker

Do you not know how to measure your business results? Start by evaluating your team! Your employees are the people who make your company meet its clients, offering them the best products or services.

The performance evaluation is an internal exercise that helps detect the qualities or mistakes of an employee, increases productivity, and, most importantly, improves internal communication.

At taclia, we teach you how to evaluate each worker through these easy-to-apply tips that guarantee effective results!

Before conducting the evaluation, remember:

  • Each worker is unique, therefore, each evaluation will also be unique.
  • Measuring the work of others is a great challenge. To overcome all obstacles that may arise during the process, there must be communication between the employee and the evaluator. Being honest is key to growing within the company!
  • Evaluations are only biannual or annual references (time of your choice) to measure all the work of your employees. We recommend having meetings every week with your workers to strengthen relationships and establish routine communication between both parties.

For the evaluation

  • Have a scheme ready to assist you in evaluating your worker. Note all the objectives that need to be covered within that position and all the relevant characteristics. The more specific and measurable, the better!

Below, we provide a scheme we have developed, with some indicators that may be useful to you. Be objective with the points you are going to measure.

This is just an example! We recommend mentioning in the scheme:

  • The most basic skills that the specific position needs to cover.
  • Other technical skills that contribute knowledge to the work and are managed on a day-to-day basis.
  • It is essential to always note down the areas where the employee can improve and all positive comments. Do not conduct this evaluation just to find errors! That is not your purpose.

The final goal of this document is to make the evaluator and the employee reflect together. Ask your employee how they feel and how you can help them. Your worker should see this exercise as constructive criticism, so choose your words carefully and show empathy. Congratulate them if you have noticed progress during the evaluation months and motivate them to keep working.

At this point, if the evaluation is positive, rewards can be offered to the workers such as salary increases, taking on more responsibilities within the company, and much more.

And how can taclia help in evaluating your employee? You can check their hours worked, the services they have been involved in, their internal tasks, and much more! Very easily!
